HORNETS U12S STILL ON TRACK FOR LEAGUE

The home side kicked off to the visitors and it wasn’t long before they had made good yards up field throw Declan Clarke and Lewis Cattanach, a quick play the ball from Greg Rooney released Ryan Smith who burst throw the home sides defence to open up the scoring, Rooney’s conversion was just wide of the uprights.
3 minutes later the Hornet’s forwards were again back on the attack with some great runs from Declan Nicholson, Brandon Clarke and , eventually the ball went throw hands before reaching Adam Meagan who slipped over the white wash to extend the Brows lead, Rooney converted.
Lowca then began to work more as a team and were beginning to work for each other and put the visitors under pressure, the home sides Telford and Graham were giving the Brow plenty of problems, on last tackle Hornets Full back Owen McCartney pulled off a try saving tackle after Jack McGreggor broke away from several Hornets defenders with the try line just inches away.
From the re start the Hornets had to work hard and started to run the ball well up field with some good rk from Kyle Martin and Adam Meagan, his pressure was rewarded when Adam Meagan showed the home side a clean pair of heals to score beside the posts to extend the Hornets lead, Greg Rooney’s conversion was successful which gave the visitors a 0 / 16 half time lead.
The second half started as the first with the Hornets taking control with some fine running from Ellis Curnow Daniel Burns and Ryan Smith, Lowca tackled in numbers but were struggling to control the tackle, then after quick play the ball Dean Rooney took the ball forward before slipping the it out wide to Adam Meagan who went down the touch line to extend the Hornets lead, Rooney’s conversion was again just wide of the mark.
Ellis Curnow was to be next on the score sheet after a fantastic run throw the centre of the field before out running the defence to go over under the sticks Greg Rooney converted to give the Brow a 26 point lead.
Most teams would have gave up by now after so much pressure but Lowca again dug deep and were running the ball hard up into the hornets 25, some great individual tackling from Adam Bowes Jack Corby and Aiden Kegg kept them out.
After the turn over the Hornets again started to build momentum with some good work from the Hornets pack, then on fourth tackle just 5mtr inside the Lowca half Tobias McAteer powered his way throw the Lowca defence to extend the Hornets lead, again Gregg Rooney converted 0 / 36.
From the re start the home side again throw everything at the Brow, Owen McCartney and Owen Martin pulled of some try saving tackles to keep the visitors out, the home side were then encamped on the Hornets line throwing everything they had at them with Ryan Telford and the Maudling brothers in the thick of things, eventually the hard working Lowca were rewarded when Luke Bound drove his way throw the defenders to touch down, Charlie Walker converted to put the home side on the score sheet.
